Duck Drivers

Grapevine Excursions is looking for part time drivers to operate a WW II 1945
amphibious military vehicle. The Duck driver will transport up to 28 guests on
land and water and must have a quick and charming wit with an outgoing personality. The Duck Drivers must enjoy interacting with guests and delivering first class entertainment. Drivers must possess pride in the American War vehicles and local knowledge of the heritage of Grapevine

This is a exciting and fast paced position where the driver is responsible for entertaining while driving the vehicle on land and water. The script is full of educational tid bits mixed in with a whole lot of fun for the entire family.

Duck Drivers should be comfortable leading a group and delivering the educational material with a friendly sense of humor. Detailed information about the heritage of Grapevine and American war history is required along with stories about the operation and deployment of amphibious military vehicles during WWII.

The extensive training involves written and practical testing, both
internally and with outside agencies such as the Department of Transportation,
Texas Parks and Wildlife, USCG and the American Red Cross and the Gaylord
Texan Resort.

Duck Driver Requirements
Ability to operate a USCG inspected, 28 passenger amphibious vehicle
TX DOT Commercial Drivers License with a “P” endorsement with recent
documented driving experience.
Pass a drug screening test.
Applicants must be 21 years old and have a clean driving record
Commercial driving skill and strength to operate a large vehicle without
power steering and a double clutch.
Safety minded with First Aid, CPR training. Any EMT training is a definite
plus

Character Requirements
Select a captains alias that matches your personality and demeanor.
Posses a friendly personality with appropriate humor and the ability to deliver one line duck jokes.
Captains will not be hired based on their capacity for hilarity, but rather for a natural theatrical voice.

Prior on-water or boating experience is a plus.

On Going Training
Training of drivers is part of an overall standard set by Grapevine Excursions and all applicants must be dedicated to endure an intensive training
program on land and water before transporting guests. Grapevine Excursions will provide initial and on going training to the right candidates. Pay ranges from $20-25 an hour plus tips. Some of the training that you will receive:

Texas Boating Regulations and Boat Safety Course
Gaylord Texan Guest Relations training
Grapevine Historic Heritage training
On-water and on-land Duck driving training
CPR and First Aid training
